Empowering a Decade of Inclusion: Celebrating 10 Years of Hope Inspired Foundation for Women and Youth with Disabilities (HIFWYD)

As we mark the 10th anniversary of the Hope Inspired Foundation for Women and Youth with Disabilities (HIFWYD), we reflect on a decade of unwavering dedication to promoting the well-being and protecting the rights of women and youth with disabilities in Nigeria. Founded on February 27, 2015, by a courageous woman who has personally experienced the challenges of living with a disability, HIFWYD has grown into a beacon of hope and empowerment for thousands of individuals and families.

A Humble Beginning

The journey of HIFWYD began with a personal story of struggle and resilience. The founder, Ejiro Sharon Okotie, who acquired a disability at the age of 11, faced discrimination and social rejection, but instead of letting these experiences define her, she chose to use them as a catalyst for change. With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by women and youth with disabilities, the founder created HIFWYD to provide a platform for education, empowerment, and advocacy.

Achievements and Milestones

Over the past decade, HIFWYD has achieved remarkable milestones, demonstrating its commitment to creating a more inclusive society. Some notable achievements include:
